A Barrel-Roofed Pasadena Office Building
The Permit Company occupies a 9,000-square-foot office building in Pasadena with a distinctive barrel roof, a curved, steep-slope structure built from a wood deck and multi-ply built-up roofing under a granular cap sheet. Years of sun had stripped the granules and dried out the waterproofing asphalt, and the leaks had grown unmanageable, reaching the offices and equipment inside.
A Steep Slope Changes the Job
That barrel shape is a double-edged sword. A steep slope sheds water beautifully, but it also turns the roof into a real slip hazard to work on. Where a flat 9,000-square-foot commercial roof takes our crews about a week, this one called for roughly seven to eight working days, with the team tied off the entire time for safety. We built the schedule around the curve, not the other way around.
A Reflective Coating, Offices Open Throughout
Rather than the disruptive tear-off other contractors had quoted at two to three times the price, HP Roofing Pro restored the roof in place with a fluid-applied acrylic system, the deck was sound, and only the waterproofing had failed. Staff kept working through the project. The finished white membrane is fully waterproof and reflective, keeping the offices cooler and drier, at a fraction of replacement cost.
